History

My first experience with essential oils was a generic combo pack that I received from my in-laws for Christmas 2016.  I was so excited to receive the oils and diffuser I immediately began to use them. In the beginning I used my oils mainly for aroma-I was obsessed with diffusing peppermint and eucalyptus. 

In March of 2016 I started to see oils as more than just aroma. One of my good friends was pregnant at the time and constantly struggled with heart burn. Her mom, an avid oiler, recommended that she add peppermint essential oil to her water. She started to drink peppermint water and saw immediate relief. I was intrigued! I started to research and learn more about the oils and their abilities. That same avid oiler first introduced me to Young Living. Month by month I grew my collection and fell more in love.

When it comes to my oils Pinterest has been my favorite resource. I’m constantly looking for new remedies, DIY recipes and diffuser blends – there is so much to learn! 

As I have learned more and connected with other oilers my passion for using them in every corner of my home has grown.

I began following Liz Joy (of Pure Joy Home) sometime in 2016. I fell in love with her light, airy photos – her adorable kids and her easy-going personality. For months I followed along and when she launched her Essential Oils Instagram (@PureJoyEssentials) I was quick to follow. It was fun to see how she used her oils on the daily – I learned a lot. 

In August of last year Liz posted this graphic on her InstaStory – this graphic really caught my attention. The thought stayed with me for hours until I finally went back to her story and took a screenshot and saved it in my favorites for future reference.Why I Joined Young Living

Fast forward to October 2018 when Liz posted this photo in her Instagram feed.

I immediately went to my phone and pulled up the Monthly Income photo I had saved two months prior. Platinum… that meant she was earning about $ 15,000.00 PER MONTH. 😯 This took my breath away.  Days after that post I found myself dreaming of ways I would spend $ 15,000.00 each month. First it was shopping – alllllll the shoes. Then it was construction – I love a good home project. In a weeks time I had spent that $ 15,000.00 a million different ways – and to think that was just ONE MONTH. It had me so excited. 

After spinning a little while longer it crossed my mind that maybe I could take on a little side hustle sharing Young Living. I went through the hundred reasons it wouldn’t work – I don’t have very many close friends, most of my friends already use oils, I don’t like to sell things and the biggest – the starter kit is too expensive. 

As the time went on I started to listen closer to Liz when she spoke. She talked about her growing team, their active Facebook Group and endless resources. 

I didn’t believe I could make this business work by myself, but with the help of a huge team I knew I could get there!

So two weeks ago when the Premium Starter Kit went on sale (hello – budget 🤷🏻😆) I pulled the trigger – officially a Young Living distributor and a proud member of the PureJoyOilers family.

Right out of the gate I received a Welcome Email from Liz. In this email were links to her Facebook groups (one for sharing wellness tips and one for those interested in the business) and a very active GroupMe chat. 

The Facebook groups are full of resources.  I started by listening to the prerecorded Zoom calls, these covered everything from the compensation plan 💵💵💵 to strategy 📈. Every day I chose a new video and listened while I was getting ready, driving or cooking dinner. There was so much to learn and having these videos made it so much easier! 

In addition to videos the team has a bunch of pre-made graphics you can share on your social media – taking all the guess work out of it!

More than the Facebook I have really enjoyed being in the GroupMe chat. This is a text message thread of over 250 passionate business builders that is active throughout the day. From celebrating birthdays, to asking questions about laundry detergent this group is so supportive and willing to help! Having this chat available to me is so reassuring – there are no silly questions. We are all learning!

At the helm of this amazing family I just joined are some pretty amazing leaders. I joined under Liz and with her I also received Marissa (of StyleCusp) Both Liz and Marissa are Platinum rank in Young Living and both are so willing to answer questions, teach classes and give guidance. Having such successful women show interest in little ole me has meant the world. 

I’ve said it once and I will say it again, had I purchased a Starter Kit from anyone else I would have already quit. Being part of this organization and having the team to hold me accountable is EVERYTHING.
